Happy Friday!!!

My weekend plans got switched up a little bit this weekend because it's supposed to pour all day Sunday. So, when I usually go to the stable on Sunday's, this week I'm going tomorrow which is fine by me! 😊 What are you guys up to this weekend?! I'd love to hear in the comments below!

I'm super excited for you all to read the articles below. They're extra great I promise! 😊

Food:

A few months ago I tried spinach artichoke dip for the first time and it's so good! I don't know why I never tried it before. Silly me I guess! As I was scrolling through BlogLovin, I stumbled upon this recipe from Jenn from Peas and Crayons for spinach artichoke won top cups. They look and sound amazing!

Read it here: https://peasandcrayons.com/2018/04/baked-spinach-artichoke-won-ton-cups.html

The one type of food that I have NEVER been picky about is salsa. I love salsa so much and will try practically any kind. The only kind I don't usually like is the chunky jar kind. However, the mild one from Aldi is amazing. Any who, I have been wanting to try to make my own lately, so I got super excited when I saw this red salsa recipe from Cookie and Kate this week! I definitely want to make it soon!

Read it here: https://cookieandkate.com/2018/best-red-salsa-recipe/

Right now, this spring weather is perfect camping weather. I've never been (want to though!) but I know others who are going! The Frugal Girls shared 59 recipes for every part of your camping trip (i.e. the drive there, at the camp site, and more).

Read it here: http://thefrugalgirls.com/2018/04/use-these-59-recipes.html

This next dessert has the most angelic sounding name. It's called Berries on a cloud. I mean seriously, doesn't that sound wonderful? Kristin from Iowa Girl Eats shared this delicious looking dessert on her blog this week that you've got to try!

Read it here: https://iowagirleats.com/2018/04/13/berries-in-a-cloud/

I have been really trying to use up food that is in my pantry so that I'm not being wasteful. There's always some way to use an ingredient right?! If you're looking to do this too and love granola (yes I know that's pretty specific haha!), then this recipe for raw-nola from Nutrition Stripped is for you!

Read it here: https://nutritionstripped.com/amazing-raw-nola/

So I was seriously upset that I wasn't at Coachella this year because Destiny's Child reunited for an incredible performance! I mean all the music was phenomenal but that was historic. If you haven't seen a video of the performance yet, check it out below!

Who else was totally pumped and ready to kick some serious ass after watching Wonder Woman when it came out? I know I felt like I could do anything! Well, I am super excited to announce that there's going to be a SEQUEL!!!!! This movie comes out November 1st, 2019 which feels like forever but I know it'll be here before I know it!

I love flower field photos. Pretty sure I've shared a ton in my weekly round up posts already but what's two more right? Marina McAvoy shared a gorgeous photo of her in a maxi in the more beautiful pink flowers. Sophie Loghman also shared a stunning photo in a multi-colored flower field as well. Plus - make sure to look at her recent posts for a super exciting announcement!

BuddyLove Panama Maxi Dress Palm Beach

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

Happy Wednesday!

I love that beach weather is finally here. The pool at my apartment has been packed the last few weekends and the slightest hint of weather in the 70's has had the beaches packed as well. I love it! Warm weather also means I get to wear my favorite style of clothing: dresses! I think I've said it before, but I could and basically do, live in dresses. They're so feminine and a one and done piece.

This maxi dress from BuddyLove is probably one of my all time favorites. My closet is filled with bright colored pieces like this because they're just so happy to look at! Bright prints always remind me of summer and my favorite state no matter where I am. This is my first and definitely not last piece from BuddyLove and I was very happy with it. My hips are on the bigger side and I was able to wear a size small with no problems at all! The dress has adjustable straps and is super flowy at the bottom.

This dress is sold out on the actual BuddyLove website, but I linked a few other boutiques that I found that have it in stock. This dress is getting harder to find so I would shop it fast!

Spring Date Idea: Sidewalk Chalk

Monday, April 16, 2018

Happy Monday!

Who remembers spending hours outside drawing pretty much everything with chalk? I know I do! I would spend so much time in our driveway drawing. I also remember using chalk to draw hopscotch or four square. Man I miss that game. I think I might have to rally up some friends to play that this coming weekend. Who's with me?!

I love sharing date ideas from our childhood because kid things never get old! I mean, that's why we have kids right? To play with Barbie dolls and G.I. Joe's again. Well, if that's not your reasoning it's part of mine! Polly Pockets here I come! 😂

This date idea is something you could do with your significant other or good friends. This date is so cheap it only costs one dollar! I had to top last week's date price of two dollars. 😂 I purchased this container of chalk from the Dollar Tree. It came with five different colors, a.k.a. all you need to make a beautiful masterpiece!

Weekly Round Up

Happy Friday!

I am so happy that it's FRI-NALLY the weekend! I feel like this work week had some really long days and I can't wait to just spend some relaxing time at home. Now, I do have a funny story for you guys. So, my mom and I make fun of my dad a lot. Like a lot. No really, a LOT. But he makes it so easy. Like, he does stupid/funny (to us haha) stuff all the time like it's regular behavior! So this week, my parents had roofers come out to inspect the roof after last year's hurricane - yes it took the insurance company THAT long to get out there. The list is long though so it's not their fault. Any who, my dad was home to talk to the roofers and right before they came he had gone to the bathroom. Once they left he went back into the bathroom, only to discover he had a decently long "tail" I would call it of toilet paper hanging out of his butt. I almost died when my mom told me this. So, he has no idea if it was tucked into his pants or if it was hanging out. If it was hanging out, the roofers were nice enough not to say anything. I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face if I were them though. I'd lose it so fast and so hard! 😂😂😂

I hope that gave ya'll a good laugh! Now, onto today's round up!

Food:

I'm not sure why, but I found two delicious looking grilled cheese sandwich recipes this week. The first recipe, from Cooking Classy, is a sun dried tomato spinach and ricotta grilled cheese. Like what?! That sounds amazing! The second, equally delicious looking grilled cheese recipe is from Chelsea's Messy Apron. Her recipe for a Margherita grilled cheese combines two amazing things: pizza and grilled cheeses! If either of these sound absolutely mouth watering, click the links below to check out the recipes!

Cooking Classy's Recipe: https://www.cookingclassy.com/sun-dried-tomato-spinach-and-ricotta-grilled-cheese/

Chelsea's Messy Apron Recipe: https://www.chelseasmessyapron.com/margherita-grilled-cheese/

In this week's round up I also wanted to include a new recipe that Chandler and I tried for dinner. I found this recipe on Pinterest and it is super delicious and easy! P.S. I also have this recipe saved in my recipes board on Pinterest. If you love pesto, tortellini and more then this recipe is for you!

Read it here: https://juliasalbum.com/one-pan-pesto-chicken-tortellini-and-veggies/

I LOVE cereal. It's kind of a problem. You know how everyone has their go-to snack? Mine is cereal hands down. I actually stopped buying it for a while because I would eat it at night even if I wasn't hungry. I just loved it! I let myself have it this week though. It was nice. :) I found a recipe this week for a triple oat breakfast cereal that looks great. I have always eaten non-sugary cereals like corn flakes or regular cheerios (not honey-nut), so this one instantly caught my eye! Check it out below!

Read it here: https://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/tripleoat-breakfast-cereal-recipe.html

I am very unsure of this final recipe. You know when you're at a restaurant and someone lists something on the menu that sounds like an interesting combination and you're very unsure if it will taste amazing or if the combo is so wrong it's impossible to be right? That's how I'm feeling right now. I do think it could be interesting to try though. Kalyn's Kitchen has a recipe for roasted asparagus with creamy tahini-peanut dipping sauce. Up for the challenge? Check out the recipe below!

Read it here: https://kalynskitchen.com/roasted-asparagus-recipe-with-creamy/

Fashion:

I love jumpsuits! Like a dress, they're a one and done piece that takes little to no time in the mornings. Camille from Charmed by Camille shared the cutest jumpsuit from the splendid X Margherita Missoni collection and it is adorable and a staple summer piece!

Read it here: http://charmedbycamille.com/splendid-x-margherita-missoni/

Andrea Besson shared the cutest little white dress on her Instagram this week that I had to share! White looks are so trendy right now, and this simple but elegant dress is the perfect essential! Plus, like Andrea mentions, it's perfect for rehearsal dinners, bridal showers and more!

See it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BhfRk27gXTi/?taken-by=andrea_marie311

How cute is Jacqueline Woodwell in the pic below? I mean really, she's adorable! Her entire feed has some really cute photos and her filters are on point you guys. Make sure to check her out!

See it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BheokVflquU/?taken-by=jacquelinewoodwell

I have shared a few looks from Venus (with more to come too!) before and so I couldn't help but share this cute look from Lisa of Pancetta & Prada! I have a dress very similar that I love so this dress instantly caught my eye!

Read it here: http://www.pancettaandprada.com/2018/04/striped-blue-strapless-dress-with.html

That's all for this week! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I can't wait to share some new posts next week!

Band of Gypsies Stripe Jumpsuit

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Happy Tuesday!

Who else HATES moving? *raises hand forever* 😂 Over the weekend Chandler and I started looking at other apartments and houses for rent to see if we could start finding a cheaper option for when our lease is up this fall. It's crazy how expensive things are, let me tell ya! We found an amazing option (mainly for Diesel). It had two dog parks and a dog pool. YES A DOG POOL! Not like he'd go in it or anything but it's still cool haha! The only problem was the amount it would cost in pet deposits was basically another month's rent. So, I'm pretty sure we're going to stay where we are for another year and then look for a new, bigger place.

Now, let's talk about this jumpsuit from Band of Gypsies. This jumpsuit is probably one of the comfiest jumpsuits I've ever worn! The material is so soft and the stripe pattern adds the illusion that your legs are 10x longer. Can I get a yes?! 🙌 Also, the color is so pretty it makes you think of the beach even if you're not there.

This jumpsuit does run a little long, so I would recommend wearing wedges/heels or get it hemmed at the bottom if you usually wear sandals!

I hope you loved this outfit and I would love to see how you styled it if you purchase it as well!

Heels: Red Dress Boutique - actual color is sold out and this alternative color is almost sold out too!

Spring Date Idea: Flying Kites

Monday, April 9, 2018

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Chandler and I had a pretty relaxing Saturday. We ran a few errands and then spent the rest of the day at home which always feels really nice. Sunday I went to the stable and of course had the best time. I tried to take my phone with me more this time around so you all could come along with me on my Instagram stories. I definitely did better than usual but I'm going to try and share more next time! I hope you all liked what I shared. I created a story highlight called "Riding" where you can always look back at what I've already posted.

Also - something else that was funny. I put my new Fitbit on while I was riding yesterday to see if it would count all of the steps and it did! When I got off Brandy I saw that I had done over 18,000 steps! 😂 Looks like we both got our workout in! 😂

Today I am kicking off my spring date series with a classic idea from everyone's childhood: flying kites! I don't know about you, but I loved flying kites as a kid. It was such a fun thing to do that was pretty much effortless. You just needed a little bit of wind! I will say, that the day we shot this, it wasn't really windy at all. Sometimes you just need to make your own wind am I right? 😂

The best part about this date is it's super cheap! This date only costs $2.14 (depending on taxes near you haha). I purchased each kite at the dollar store and you can go to any public park for free. My favorite part about the dollar store kites is that they all have different characters on them. I saw a few Star Wars ones, Disney, Marvel, etc. I of course had to pick Barbie and Chandler picked the Ninja Turtle!

Even if you don't have a lot of wind on the day that you go, just trying to get the kites up in the air is hilarious. As you scroll, you'll see that I had some issues a few times, but it truly made it fun! If you're looking for something cheap and entertaining, this date idea is for you!

I hope you all loved this date idea and I'd love to hear how your date went if you try it soon!

Weekly Round Up

Happy Friday!

I am so excited about my horseback riding lesson this Sunday. For some reason, I'm extra excited about this lesson than normal. I do think it's because of a blog post I read. Torey (Torey's Treasures, featured below) really inspired me. She mentioned how you should invest in experiences instead of things and she is so right. I love horse back riding so much that to me it's worth not going out to eat or spending extra money on something that isn't truly necessary. My long term goal is to have a horse of my own and the only way I am going to get there is if I invest in these experiences now and not waste money on things that don't get me there.

Now, of course I'm not saying that I won't treat myself to things. That's not living! I just want to tighten up the reins a little bit. See what I did there? :P

Food:

I looked at my budget for myself the other day and I'm trying to do better at sticking to it! What I love about this first post, is that the total cost of the meal is on it! This meal below costs $6.28. Not bad right?! Check out this Spinach chickpea and quinoa salad recipe from Budget Bytes below!

See it here: https://www.budgetbytes.com/2018/04/spinach-chickpea-and-quinoa-salad/

Ya'll know that I don't really have a sweet tooth. If I had to pick my favorite dessert though, it would be strawberry shortcake! Two Peas and Their Pod shared a recipe for strawberry shortcake biscuits. Say what?! Prepare for your mouth to water haha! TMI? Maybe but oh well! :P

See it here: https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/strawberry-shortcake/

Life:

I have seen posts similar to the one below and I definitely want to do this. I have been following Torey from Torey's Treasures for quite some time now and she did a post about 29 things she learned in her 20's and it's so insightful. It's definitely a must-read!

Read it here: http://www.toreystreasures.com/2018/03/29-things-ive-learned-in-my-20s/

Entertainment/Funnies:

So, the internet broke this week when the news of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's breakup was announced. I know I'm definitely sad about this because I still remember the incredibly amazing performances this couple did on Lip Sync Battle. I really hope they both are happy in the long run.

What are everyone's feelings about the Jersey Shore reunion? I still need to watch the episode that aired last night but I will soon just to check it out. The entire crew is returning except one person: Sammi. The article below from Refinery 29 shares her explanation as to why she chose not to return back to the show. To be honest, I think her decision was very mature and smart for what she says she is trying to focus on. You go girl!

I have been following Kelsey Lynn Barlow since I started blogging. We both were newer bloggers and I loved seeing someone who was also new and working so hard to create content. She shared the most gorgeous white dress on her blog this week + an awesome post on the dress that made her want to be a fashion blogger.

I have seen this palm blazer on a few different bloggers and I absolutely love it! It's beachy, fun, and very colorful! Lauren Strager also shared this on her Instagram this week and I had to share if anyone hasn't seen it yet!

Venus Tie Dye Maxi Dress

Thursday, April 5, 2018

Happy Thursday!

So, I'm still super excited that I am officially on Like To Know It! You can now shop all of my looks through the app or through the link here: https://www.liketoknow.it/sparklesandsunshineblog. If something is sold out or not available to link, I will always link other similar options! If you have an account on Like To Know It, please head over to my page and hit follow. It would mean a lot to me if you did. :)

I have always had a thing for blue tie-dye. I know that's very specific but I just love it! Venus recently released their Caribbean Escape Collection and it has some really cute pieces in it, like this dress. There are two things you can never go wrong with: a maxi and a t-shirt dress. This dress combines the two. Plus, if you're not into blue tie-dye like I am, don't worry, this dress also comes in black and olive.

I decided to pair this dress with a fun embroidered straw bag that has one of the most accurate phrases in the world on it am I right?! I love that straw bags are so popular right now. They're simple, lightweight, and look perfect with any beachy look!

Natalie's Orchard Island Juice Company Review

Wednesday, April 4, 2018

Happy Wednesday!

I love being from Florida. I truly believe it's one of the best states. #notbiased 😂 Florida is known for multiple things: Disney, beaches, sunshine, and oranges! Speaking of oranges, who LOVES orange juice? Fun fact: I actually don't like orange juice. I'm like the most anti-Floridian ever when it comes to oranges. BUT I do love juice. Chandler has always had a favorite orange juice which is why I had to see what all the hype was about. Luckily, they have many other delicious flavors of juice available.

What I love about these juices is that whatever flavor you're drinking, only those ingredients are in it. So, if it's orange juice, there's only Florida oranges. If you're drinking grapefruit juice, there's only Florida grapefruits in it! Natalie's Orchard Island Juice Company does have many other delicious flavors too! My favorite is definitely the strawberry lemonade. I could drink a whole pitcher of it!

What I also love about these juices is that they are made in Florida. I already love and support anything American made, but I love Florida made things even more. It feels good to support locals! Growing up, my mom had (and still has) her own business. I love seeing all that she has accomplished on her own over the years and watching her acquire opportunities for the future. This juice company was actually named after the CEO, Marygrace's daughter. Their story is so great, and I highly recommend checking it out here!

If you're interested in trying them, click here to find the closest retailer near you! Their juices are available in the U.S. and internationally! How cool is that?!

I hope you loved this review and I hope you try these juices! They really are delicious!
