Sparkles and Sunshine: December 2017

Hello 2018!

Saturday, December 30, 2017

Happy Saturday everyone!

The holidays really put me behind, but I'm back! Can anyone else believe 2018 is almost here?! 2017 was an interesting year to say the least and it was filled with many ups and downs. Today, instead of sharing a weekly round up post, I would like to share the best and hardest moments of 2017.

1. We celebrated Diesel's first birthday. I still can't believe we have had him for an entire year now! He is one of the best things that has ever happened to Chandler and I.

2. I started my blog! While this happened at the very end of 2016, I didn't really get into it until 2017 so I'm counting it! Haha! Blogging is a ton of work and I give so much credit to each and every blogger out there. It really is a second job for me. But, I love it so much because it's something that's created by me, without anyone telling me if it's "right" or "wrong." It's a creative outlet for me to turn all of my thoughts into content that others will love.

3. I got a promotion at work! This was a big deal to me. While I was afraid of what the position entailed, I knew it was the right thing to do. I knew that it would be one that would teach me many things and put me outside of my comfort zone. Which it definitely has! I'm very thankful to be in the position that I am, and I can't wait to grow more in 2018.

1. Chandler and I had some real financial troubles throughout this year. It put a strain on our relationship, and for a while, all I really cared about was our dog and cats. It wasn't until a few months ago that everything finally started to turn around. I'm really glad that it did too. I've never been in a situation like this before and I wasn't really sure how to handle it. Everything happens for a reason though and these tough times only make you stronger. They definitely made us stronger.

2. For all of 2016 and shortly after I got the promotion, I had to work for someone that did not treat me right at all. This experience not only crushed my confidence, but it also made me hate my job, work entirely, and myself. I was very depressed. It wasn't until this year that I received two wonderful, much needed gifts: two coworkers, one that I had known before and a new one who has changed the way things are done, for the better. Since then, my confidence is back to normal, and I love going to work each day. To be honest, I never wanted to share this with anyone because I thought it was too controversial. But this is my blog, and this is what I want to share. If I'm always afraid to share things, then how am I ever going to make an impact?

A lot of people are always excited for the new year because it's a new start. A chance to make themselves better. Just know, that you don't have to wait until January 1st, 2018 to make a change. Start today and get a head start on it! Beat January 1st to the punch! You don't have a timer waiting to go off in two days. Think about one thing you want to do right now and go do it, or at least make the plan for it if it's something that requires a bit more haha. I have faith in you!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me along my journey that's just getting started. I have so much planned for 2018 that I can't wait to share with all of you. I love everyone I have met so far, including my amazing photographers, a few blogger friends and more. You all are wonderful people and I can't wait to get to know each and every one of you better in 2018.

See you all next year!

New Year's Eve Dress

Wednesday, December 27, 2017

Happy Wednesday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I spent some great time with my family and Chandler's and everyone enjoyed each other's company. Today I would like to share my New Year's Eve look for this year. I know it was hard to see, but if you saw my Instagram story from my company party, you will remember this dress! As soon as I saw this dress, I instantly knew that I wanted to create a vintage Hollywood look because that's exactly what this dress reminds me of!

There were so many pretty photos from this shoot, in black and white and color, it was hard to pick. So...I'm featuring basically all of them haha! I hope you all love this look from Morning Lavender. I've featured this boutique before because it is by far one of my favorites. You will be seeing tons of looks from them in 2018!

P.S. I would like to give two huge shout outs. First, a very very special thank you to the San Marco theatre for letting me take photos in their beautiful theater. Second, I would like to thank my coworker and friend Katie for doing my hair. I mean seriously, take a look at the updo!

Happy Friday!!!

Can anyone else believe that there are only three days left until Christmas?! Like WHAT?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Luckily I pretty much finished my Christmas shopping yesterday. I only have one gift left to buy, but it's a super easy one and I already know where I'm going to get it from!

Before I go into this week's articles, I wanted to share a pro tip from my mom. My mom is always done with her Christmas shopping by like August! It's crazy. Her suggestion is to put money aside each month ($10, $20, etc.). By the time Christmas comes around, you will already have your Christmas shopping money and whatever you have is what you have. No if's, and's or but's!. Not only does this help you to not go crazy on gifts at the end of the year, it also keeps you in check with your budget. I'm definitely going to try this next year!

Now, for this week's round up! There have been a TON of great articles this week. It's always so hard to pick!

Who else is not good at wrapping? ๐Ÿ™‹ (They really should have an emoji with a girl lifting both hands up. I mean this one works, ๐Ÿ™Œ but I look like I'm praising and that's not really what I'm going for haha). Any who, like I said, I'm not good at wrapping, and I love any type of DIY on how to improve my skills. Sarah, from Thrifty Decor Chick shared a great DIY on how to make large Christmas bows! These can be put on presents, garland, and more. By the way, you should check out her most recent blog post of her home. Her decor is on point ya'll!!!

December 2017 Bark Box

Wednesday, December 20, 2017

Happy Wednesday!

Today is my last day of work for this week and I'm super excited! Helllloooooo long weekend. Chandler and I are not leaving for the holidays until the end of this week, so I can't wait to just enjoy a nice Thursday off at home, watching Christmas movies all day with my puppy. ☺️

Speaking of Diesel, his December Barkbox came in the mail this past weekend! Of course it was adorable! The theme of this box was a Christmas in New York. All of his treats and toys had the cutest sayings and designs I just couldn't handle it! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I swear they make this box for us puppy parents and not just the dog.

Diesel got very spoiled with this box! His toys included Norm the nutcracker and a tree delivery dog. The nutcracker had the FUNNIEST squeak sound I have ever heard. If you saw my Instagram story then you know what I'm talking about. Barkbox calls it their "giggle stick" and boy did it make me laugh.

Next, are some very cleverly named treats (as usual). He got seven snacks a'quacking and six treats a'clucking. Every bag of Barkbox treats is wheat free, corn free, and soy free. They're also made in the USA!

To prove that my dog has a better life than me and eats better than me is his chew. He got a 100%  natural roasted beef steak. One thing that is important to note is that it specifically says to not use on carpets. In other words, Diesel is only allowed to chew on this on the porch or in the living room where there isn't any carpet. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Last but not least, to match every box theme, Barkbox includes a flyer with something cute and fun! Since the theme was Christmas in New York, the box was lined with a paper that had a cute Christmas scene filled with dogs doing multiple things. The flyer pictured below was a scavenger hunt list, similar to Where's Waldo. It was a lot of fun to find everything!

Venus Sequin Dress

Happy Tuesday!

How is everyone?! I learned a fun fact yesterday that I wanted to share with you all. Apparently out of all of the states, Florida is in the top 10 for best drivers! I find that hard to believe, but I think everyone in every state thinks they have the worst drivers. Haha! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Now I would like to talk about this fun sequin dress from Venus. I am a huge believer that sequins are a must-have for New Year's Eve! I don't think I've ever not worn sequins on New Year's! The second I saw this dress, I knew I had to share it with all of you. Not only is this dress covered in sequins, it also has a fun trim at the bottom for a little extra flair.

2017 Winter FabFitFun Box

Monday, December 18, 2017

Happy Monday!

What did everyone do this weekend? My mom came and stayed with Chandler and I this weekend and we got a handful of our Christmas shopping done. I still have a little bit to do but I got this! Right...? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Today I am talking about the 2017 FabFitFun Winter box! I have been subscribed to FabFitFun for a little over a year now and I've always liked that I get to try out new products for a cheaper overall price. However, I am trying to work on my budget a little bit more so unfortunately this will be the last FabFitFun box post I share for a little while. Out of all of my boxes I've gotten, this is one of my favorites!

This box contained the following items:

  • BB Dakota Poncho
    • I have actually never owned a poncho, so I'm kind of excited to try this out this season!
  • 8 Other Reasons 9 Lives Choker
    • I think this trend is so fun and so 90's! The winter box provided either a gold or silver choker. While I prefer gold in most cases, it's good to switch up some color! I already know of a few pieces that this could go with.
  • Doucce Cosmetics Freematic Face Palette
    • I don't usually wear make-up, but I thought this palette was great for people who like a nice small palette to keep with you in your purse. This would be a great gift!
  • Homemade by Ayesha Curry Ceramic Mug
    • Okay so I LOVE mugs. No really, I have an entire shelf full of them. I don't know what it is about them, but I always love to have a ton. Even though I can never go through all of them! Each FabFitFun box was given a different style of mug. Mine was black and white and said: "Coming in Hot."
  • Kate Somerville ExfoliKate
    • From what I've seen, this product has been proven to provide smoother skin and a nice, glowing complexion. It also helps with wrinkles! Definitely eager to see how this product works.
  • Pointe Studio Aloe Infused Cozy Socks
    • Just like mugs, I LOVE fuzzy socks. Every year my mom gets me a new pair or two. I've had a pair of aloe infused ones before and they're so great. They are extra soft and they make your feet feel brand new.
  • Ahava Mineral Hand Cream
    • I love lotions and hand creams. During the winter, my skin gets really dry. I usually have some Jergens lotion on standby. As soon as I saw this in my box I got excited. I can't wait to try it!
  • Nelson J. Beverly Hills Moisture Healing Hair Mask in Coconut
    • My hair is my favorite thing about myself and I found this item to be really interesting! I've heard of hair masks before but I've never actually tried one. I'm eager to see what it's like!
  • This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray (my choice item - not shown because Chandler was looking at it lol)
    • For years I had trouble falling asleep. Some nights it would take me hours to fall asleep. Every now and then, this is still the case but it's not as frequent. #adulting makes you tired! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Anyways, I'm really excited to try this and see if it really works.
That's all for my 2017 winter FabFitFun box blog post! If you also got the box, I'd love to hear what you thought of it in the comments below, or if you have any questions, I'd love to hear them!

My favorite Christmas Pajamas

Thursday, December 14, 2017

Happy Thursday!

Every year my mom buys me pajamas for Christmas. She always finds the cutest ones too! Now, she didn't buy the ones I'm about to share but she did find this adorable bedding from Bealls. The pajamas below are from Aerie. I have always loved shopping at Aerie! What I love the most is their brand. I love how they promote actual women of every size and shape. They also don't photo shop their models which I think is amazing!

The second I saw these online, I had to have them. You guys know I love a good pun and this sweatshirt is a good pun. Haha! In addition to these pajamas being cute, they are also incredibly soft. They are probably the softest pajamas I own. To top it off, I had to get the matching socks because why not. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Diesel also liked them and the bedding. ☺️
