Summer Date Series - Picnic

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Happy Wednesday!

I am finally recovering from our move this past weekend. We luckily had an easy move across the hall, but we still had a ton of stuff. I feel like you really see how much crap you have once you move! Haha!

Any who, I hope you all loved my first date series post. If you haven't read it yet, you can read it here:

My second summer date idea is going on a picnic! This could be at a park, the beach, or even your own backyard!

For my Florida peeps, and a few other southern states, we all know that a picnic isn't complete without a Publix sub (pub sub for short haha). What I love most about Publix is that if you're gearing up for a picnic or tailgate, they have everything. Subs, sides, and more!

As you can tell, Chandler loves their potato salad! :P

I also couldn't forget sparkling water, aka one of my favorite things. San Pellegrino has my heart. <3

One way to make the date even more special is to make a fun toast! Toast to each other and say something you love about each other. This will definitely read make you both smile. :)

I hope you all are loving my summer date series and can't wait to share more ideas! Comment below if there is a specific idea you would love to see. :)

Weekly Round Up

Friday, August 25, 2017

Happy Friday everyone!!!

I am extremely excited because today is the day we move into our new apartment! We have been living in a one bedroom apartment and honestly, it is not big enough for two people. So, we are moving down the hall (a.k.a. the best/easiest move EVER) to a two bedroom. Diesel is going to have so much more room and I will FINALLY have an area to do my blogging!

So, for my second weekly round up, I have found some great articles that I hope all of you love.

1. Who remembers drinking capri sun's as a kid? I definitely do! Your lunch wasn't complete without the fruit punch capri sun am I right? While we might look kind of funny drinking those now (however I TOTALLY still would lol), we finally have an adult version! Refinery 29 wrote an article about The Electric Rose' Wine Company's newest on the go drink! Read more about it here:

2. Okay everyone, the moment has finally come! VS has announced their models for their 2017 fashion show in December!!! For those of you who look forward to this show every year like myself, get ready to get excited! With August coming to a close next week, we are officially four months away from the big show! Check out this article to see some of this year's faces:

3. Everyone goes through a rough patch. Sometimes it's for a day, and other times it's for a year. But, it doesn't have to be this way! I found a great article from Career Girl Daily that gives 5 great ways to become happier in a week. Even if you're in a good place right now, I would still read this because you never know when you will have to remember them. Read more here:

4. My last article is from Wendy's Lookbook. This article was only posted yesterday and I was instantly obsessed! She shares a beautiful lace polka dot dress that would be perfect for any fall event. including a holiday party. If you're in need for some serious fall outfit inspo, you've got to check it out:

That's all for this week everyone! I honestly could go on and on because there are so many great articles every week. If you found an amazing article this week, please post it in the comments below because I would love to read it! Have a great weekend everyone!

Tone It Up!

Monday, August 21, 2017

Happy Monday everyone! 😊

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been on a mission to lose weight and get back to the size I used to be. I’ve tried a few different programs but haven’t really been able to stick to any of them…until now! I recently became a member of Tone It Up and I’m in LOVE! I love how supportive the TIU community is, online and on social media. The TIU Instagram is filled with supportive content to keep you motivated and excited throughout your journey. I also like to look at Karena and Katrina’s (the founders of Tone It Up) individual Instagram’s because they’re real girls like us with photos that aren’t picture perfect.

Tone It Up knows that us #girlbosses are busy with everything that we have going on, so they make everything we do as quick and easy as possible. Some workouts only take 10 minutes! They also have a ton of recipes that don’t take that much time either. Of course, I’m all about that Sunday meal prep!

So, if you’re wondering, how do I join this amazing community…here’s how!

Step one: Sign up for their emails: click here. They send out daily emails about the workouts they did that day, recipes and fun articles about everyday life. They also send out weekly emails that include the weekly workout schedule. I like to keep this open on my Iphone so that I always know what I’m doing each day and set my alarms accordingly.

Step two: Look at the daily workout tab on their website DAILY! Every day they post the workout associated with the weekly workout schedule. Once you’re there you will see the five toning moves for the day plus anything else they decide to feature. Those toning moves are killer but they definitely work. Every now and then I have to modify the moves to fit my needs so I recommend doing that if you need to as well.

Step three: Decide if you want to become a member. That’s right, all of what I just said above is there without becoming a member! They want every girl to succeed and it’s so incredible. When you become a member, you get full access to the nutrition plan (hundreds of recipes for regular, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten free and gluten free vegetarian!) and every edition, past and present of workout guides and recipes. Sometimes the daily workout tab features a workout from one of these guides that you can only get if you’re a member. You also get early access to the tour and other fun opportunities that the Tone It Up team hosts as well as special emails with nutrition advice and more. When I joined, my total cost was $160 and that included everything that I’ve mentioned above. If you think about it, this is cheaper than a gym membership for an entire year (and this is for forever), and you get nutrition advice with it!

If you’re still thinking about joining the Tone It Up, I recommend simply looking at their site:! Take a look at their recipes, articles and even the daily workout tab to see what you think. Like I said, I’m still extremely happy that I joined. Not only am I feeling more empowered by their community but I am seeing results. I will keep all of you updated as I continue on my journey, and I cannot wait to show you my progress!

Weekly Round Up

Friday, August 18, 2017

Happy Friday!
I have decided to start a weekly roundup post that includes my favorite articles of the week! These can be from bloggers, the Tone It Up community, or anything else. I find most of my articles from my Instagram feed/stories I see and on BlogLovin'!

The first article that I found was from Sequins and Things about her recent trip to Florence, Italy. You could tell she put her whole heart into this article because the amount of detail she provided to her readers was amazing! She included details such as where she stayed, and even some quick phrases in Italian! If you haven't seen her article yet, I highly recommend it. Check it out:

The second article I wanted to share is from Citrus and Style. With school starting, I thought this article was great to share with everyone! I graduated from college two years ago and I still remember all of the things that I had to get for my first dorm. If you're starting college soon you should check out her article:

The third article is super exciting! Forbes magazine did an article on my fitness trainers from Tone It Up! This article covers everything from how they started their business to the everyday struggles they face as entrepreneurs. I am so extremely proud of this girl boss empire for getting such a prestigious feature, and I can't wait to see the amazing things they do in the future!

P.S. I do have a surprise coming from Tone It Up so be on the look out for that! :)

My last article isn't new this week but it's one that I found a few weeks ago that I absolutely loved and wanted to share in my first weekly round up. Bailey from Here's the Skinny did an article about how she balances blogging with a full time job. I loved reading this because it was nice to know that I'm not the only one who has a full time job and is trying to balance this blog on top of my relationship, diesel, and well everything else! If you are in the same situation, I highly recommend this article. She has some great tips and advice:

12 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Getting A Dog

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

I can't believe Diesel is 11 months old this month! Where has the time gone! I still remember when we got him last December when he was only 3 months old. He was definitely a handful haha. :) Having a dog is a big responsibility. You have to feed them, exercise them and make sure they stay healthy and strong from the vet.

If you're debating whether or not you should get a dog, below are some questions Diesel wants you to ask yourself:
1) Do you have the time?
If you get a puppy, be prepared to take it on a ton of potty breaks! Puppies, like babies have to be potty trained. When I first got Diesel, I came home everyday on my lunch break to let him out for months. I'm pretty sure I started leaving him in longer duration's at six or seven months old. If you get an older dog (depending how old), you still might have to potty train. If not, there's still plenty that you will need time for!

2) Can you afford your pet?
Pets are expensive! Vet bills, food, treats and toys all cost a lot. When you first get a dog, immediately take it to the vet. Most puppies need multiple rounds of shots when you first get them and older dogs, depending if you are rescuing or purchasing, may still need some extra shots as well.
In terms of food and treats, it really depends on what you get. I highly recommend talking to your vet about quality food that is in your budget. Not every food is right for every dog. We've been through a few! Also, know that just because the food is super expensive, doesn't mean it's the best for your dog.

3) Do you have somewhere to exercise your dog?
Exercising your dog is extremely important! You wouldn't want to lie around in bed all day right? Well, depending on the day you ask! :) If you have a house, having a fenced in back yard is a must-have. This gives your dog plenty of room to run and play without the worry of them running off. If you live in an apartment like me, take your dog to the dog park if it has one or see if there is a local dog park nearby. The benefits of going to a dog park is the socialization! I've talked about this a few times before, but it truly does help your dog no matter the age!
If you don't have the best access to what I mentioned above, taking your dog on a good 20-30 minute walk each day is a great form of exercise!

4) Do you know how to train a dog or do you have access to dog training?
Having your dog trained is super important. You never want the dog to think that it is alpha because then it will think it is in control of you and that it can get away with anything. We took Diesel to get trained at our local Petsmart. Petsmart has different levels of training starting at puppy! We had great success at Petsmart with the best trainer ever, Katie! If you prefer Petco over Petsmart, I know that they offer training as well.
If you don't want to go to either of those stores, ask your vet or some other friends that have pets to see what trainers they used locally. Training is definitely not limited to Petsmart or Petco! :)
One thing to note here is that this should also be factored into the costs that you will be spending on your dog! Training isn't cheap.

5) Will the dog be by itself or will it have a companion?
I always recommend starting with one dog if it is your first ever or if it is your first dog on your own since your parents. With everything that I have mentioned above, just think how insane it would be to double that all at once! Our plan is to wait until Diesel is at least two before we get another dog. One huge benefit of doing this is that once your first dog is very well trained and more mature, the new dog will learn so much from the older dog. My dog back home Aiden teaches Diesel something new every single time we go home! Granted, Aiden is a genius. :) #notbiased

6) Do you have a way of socializing your dog?
Again, this is super important! We socialized Diesel by taking him to our dog park at our apartment complex, the local dog park, training classes at PetSmart and basically everywhere we could go that is dog friendly.

7) Do you want a dog that’s children friendly?
Every type of dog has a different personality. Growing up, I only had Labrador Retrievers, aka the best family dogs ever! If you have a family, you definitely want a dog that fits that lifestyle. Some dogs are meant to be "it," meaning no kids. I highly recommend checking out the AKC breed list here to find a breed that works best for you!

8) Are you an athlete that wants a running partner?
You want to pick a breed that matches your lifestyle. If you're someone who's always on the go or if you have a very athletic routine, you should get a high energy dog. If you're more relaxed you should get a more chill dog. Going back to the question above, a mild manner dog is one you would want if you have kids!

9) What age of dog do you want? Puppy or older dog?
All of the questions above can help you answer this one! Puppies definitely require more time and money up front, but you can train them from the beginning! Older dogs can be easier because some can already be trained (not always).
10) Do you want to adopt or buy from a breeder?
We rescued Diesel from a local shelter and I am so happy that we did. The day that we saw him, we found out that the day before, a couple had brought him there. The shelter told us that the couple that got him was a newly wed couple that decided to get a dog after marriage, not realizing what came with that. We were beyond excited to give Diesel his furever home and he's been happier ever since!
I'm not opposed to breeders either though. While adopting is such a great option, a lot of people want a specific breed and sometimes that's hard to find. My family and I used to breed purebred Labrador Retrievers so my family and I have a lot of knowledge in this area!
However, if you are looking at pet shops, the one thing I will make you aware of, is not every animal you get from a pet shop is coming from the right place. Some dogs come from places like puppy mills which are horrible places where dogs are bred until they can't anymore. These are being shut down as they are found, but they are still out there. My main advice is just to be cautious and do your research!

11) What size dog do you want?
I personally am a big dog person! Always have been. I like to feel protected and secure. While that might be my preference, it isn't everyone's! When you look at the breed list mentioned above, also take into consideration the size you want! It will definitely help narrow down your options!
12) Are you a cat person or a dog person?
Now, with this being my last question, I have to ask. Are you a cat person or a dog person? If you're looking for something low maintenance to start with, cats are definitely the way to go. I have had my two wonderful boys for 12 years now (holy cow!) and they are my pride and joy just like Diesel. If you want something more than that, then I would say a dog is the route to go!
You can have both though! Of course I wouldn't get them both at once but just know that they can! My cats have been around multiple puppies in their lifetime and so while they aren't super excited about dogs they can definitely deal with Diesel. :)
Before I end this article, I can't leave without showing you Diesel's brothers Oscar and Felix. He wanted me to introduce you to them. :)
I hope this helped you make your decision. I am more than happy to help with any other questions you might have. If I don't know the answer, I definitely recommend reaching out to your local rescue shelter or vet. They will have plenty of information to help you with your decision!

What The Flock Monday?!

Monday, August 14, 2017

Oh Mondays. Don't they make you want to just yell What the flock?! I mean really, can't we have one more day between Sunday and Monday? Last week my Monday morning was awful! I woke up, got into an argument with my parents, then got to work and realized I left my work laptop at home...all before 9am. However, when I went back to get my laptop I did talk everything out with my parents so it worked out in the end!

Monday's can be really great and today I'd like to share with you some tips to help make yours even better! I hope you like them!

1) Create a fun playlist. I recently downloaded Spotify to my computer at work so as soon as I get there I put in my headphones and start jamming out! I also have a standing desk so I dance at my desk everyday. I do this as soon as I get there because it helps wake me up!

2) Find a great Yoga flow for the morning. I do my Tone It Up workout every morning and I love adding in my yoga stretches to the days where the workout isn't yoga. They really make your body feel great and the stretching really helps when you're sitting all day in a 9-5 job!

3) Prep your lunch and snacks the night before! This is probably one of the most important things for me because by the time I do my workout, make breakfast and take care of Diesel, there really isn't much time in the morning left for me to pack all of my food for the day and still make it to work by 8am. By prepping the night before (I like to prep as much as I can on Sundays so that I am prepared for the whole week), you save yourself so much time in the mornings that could be spent by adding some more yoga stretches or relaxing with your furbaby!

4) Plan something for Monday. This could be anything! It could be making a great breakfast in the morning or watching your favorite show Monday night. Whatever you choose, make it your own tradition. Giving yourself something to look forward to can instantly boost your mood when you're having the Monday blues!

How do you cure your Monday blues? I'd love to hear about what you do in the comments below! :)

P.S. If you're still looking for cures for the Monday blues, you can always get a funny shirt like this! Mine is from Francesca's. :)
