January BarkBox

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Happy Tuesday!

Diesel has been loving his BarkBox subscription! I think he actually knows that he gets a gift every month because he's always so excited the second he sees the open box. The theme of this box was medieval times.

I would have to say that is always my favorite thing about BarkBox. They really do an awesome job at coming up with clever themes for us dog parents! As normal, this box included two toys, two bags of treats and one chew. I would like to point out that he ate the entire chew in one minute. 😂 He has done a good job at keeping his toys in decent care. We had to take the king away for a bit as he destroyed part of the cape within seconds of having it. Haha! Below are photos of the January box!

P.S. I'm sorry about the messy table in the back. I noticed this after the photos were taken and trust me it wasn't worth trying to get Diesel to pose again! My fellow dog parents know the struggle! 😂

Thanks for reading, have a great week! ☺️

Mini Bar Donut Shop + Gold N’ Daisies Dress

Monday, January 22, 2018

Happy Monday!

How was everyone's weekend?! If Chandler and I had to pick our favorite day of the weekend it would have to be Sunday. Not only did the Jags play an AWESOME game, (sad they lost though) we found the cutest new donut shop that just opened in Jacksonville Beach called The Mini Bar. Not only does this place have the cutest, most creative and most delicious mini donuts we've ever tasted, they also have great local coffee and brews! Plus, if you're a fellow girl who loves to get the perfect Instagram photo, they have so many photo opportunities that you will see as you scroll.

Flavors featured below from left to right: Strawberry Sprinkle, Fruity Pebbles, Peanut Butter Cup, & S'more

Now, last Friday in my weekly round up post, I shared that I had a surprise coming soon. I'm excited to announce that I will be working with Gold N' Daisies, a new online boutique that just launched last week, to showcase their beautiful styles! What I love about this boutique is that it is fun, feminine and happy. P.S. I've already seen a sneak peek at their newest spring arrivals and trust me you're going to love them!

In this post I styled their Jade Fit & Flare Dress which is so soft and comfy! I do suggest wear nude undergarments with it but that's a standard with anything white! This is only one of their gorgeous dresses that I loved. To see more, click here.

Most importantly, at the bottom of this post is a special code for 10% off your next purchase! Keep scrolling to see!

Make sure to head over to both of these awesome new companies' Instagram profiles to learn more about them and if you are a Jacksonville local, or someone who loves to travel, you have to check out this donut shop!

Weekly Round Up

Happy Friday everyone!

This week definitely had it's moments of going by super fast and going by SUPER slow! Like yesterday, not only did I think it was Friday, when I thought it was after 4pm it was only 3! My internal clock was all messed up! Haha!

I am excited about this weekend because I have my next horseback riding lesson, an exciting surprise (stay tuned), and the jags play in the big championship game! Rumor has it that Tom Brady hurt his  hand. When I tried to confirm this with my cousin he said that he dislocated one of his fingers but the doctors won't comment on it. Of course he had to add that even an injured Tom Brady could still beat us. Remember when I said he was their biggest fan? 😂

All game talk aside, I'm excited to share this week's round up post! I will admit, I was writing this while hungry so there might be more food call outs than normal. More specifically, I was craving Mexican so of course I found this delicious looking cheese dip that makes you want to walk away from any healthy, nutritious meal you may have planned to eat #thestruggleisSOreal. 😂

Food:

First up, I'm not entirely sure how healthy these zucchini chips are but the have zucchini in the name so it counts as a healthy snack...right? I know I want to try this recipe from Damn Delicious. Get the recipe below!

Read it here: https://damndelicious.net/2018/01/15/baked-zucchini-chips/

You know when you're scrolling through Instagram and you see a food gram that is so mouth watering but so pretty you don't want to eat it but you do at the same time? Yeah that happened when I saw this smoothie from Half Baked Harvest. This smoothie has so many great ingredients in it to help fuel your body and it sounds delicious!

Okay, okay. The moment we've all been scrolling for! The cheese dip!!! I found this amazing recipe from The Girl Who Ate Everything. Which by the way, her name is the best thing I've ever heard! 😂

Fashion:

As I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I stumbled upon the prettiest ruffle sleeve top. Kailey from a Double Shot of Sass looked absolutely stunning in it and she has a funny story in her post about her sister. I was laughing for sure!

I think almost everyone knows that I love pink and faux fur by now. If you don't, now you do haha! I recently discovered Beatrice from Beatricebalaj.com and she shared the prettiest pink faux fur jacket.

I always find some gorgeous outfits on Instagram every week and below are my favorites!

I wish I could own this entire look. It is beyond gorgeous! See Marina's post below. P.S. Just look at her entire feed. I'm hooked:  Marina Yushchuk

This girl literally has the word confident in her name and this photo proves that. Cynthia from The Siren Confidential shared a photo in her newest lingerie and she looks beyond fierce: The Siren Confidential

This last blogger is one that I'm definitely obsessed with! She loves color just as much as I do and her latest post is the perfect thing to brighten up your day! Goodtomicha

That's all for this week! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I'll see you next week! :)

Body Positivity

"One small thought in the morning can change your whole day"

All throughout college I was a size six. I've always been a size six. It wasn't until I started dating Chandler (not blaming him at all) and all of the eating out + my first 9-5 job that I gained weight. My body was so used to always being active, that when things slowed down, it wasn't ready. I didn't change my eating habits because I didn't know I had to until it was too late. I didn't know I had poor form with some of my workout moves which led to a back injury that slowed down any progress I had made. I have been working hard for a while now to lose the weight and it didn't really start to happen until the second half of 2017.

Losing weight is a hard thing. Being comfortable in your own skin during that process is even harder. I wanted to talk about body positivity today because I felt it was very important that every woman know that they are beautiful and that it is okay to struggle with that thought at times. I can't tell you how many times Chandler has said "you're beautiful" and I didn't believe him. We all have those days. However, we need to work harder to combat those thoughts because ladies they are so not true.

The quote I shared at the beginning really does work. If you start your day with a positive thought, you can immediately put yourself in a happy mindset which will boost your mood for the whole day! I mean, how great is that! Pick one thing about yourself that you love and it doesn't have to be a body part, but it can be!

For instance, I love my hair. It's long, strong, thick, and the color is natural. It keeps my neck and shoulders warm in the colder months and it makes me feel beautiful when it's down in curls or straight. I love my hair.

What do you love about yourself?

I mentioned the Tone It Up Love Your Body Series the other day and I wanted to touch on it again in this post. This series is all about taking the time to really love all that your body does for you. Everyday that you wake up is because your body was like "yep, Caitlin, you're here and it's going to be another great day." Think about everything your body has been through. As I mentioned above, my body has been through an injury and here it is, still standing. People break bones and they heal. Your body got through that. You did your best round house kick in your kickboxing class the other night. Your body got through that!

Our bodies are such incredible machines that don't get enough credit. How we fuel them, love them and talk about them makes such a difference.

One important thing to note is every body is unique and special. One body type is not like the other and one person is not like the other. So why compare? When you compare yourself to someone who is at a different fitness level, skill level, or just anything, how does that help you? It only helps if it motivates you in a positive way. However, so often we compare ourselves in a negative way. We'll say "man, I wish I was a size zero" or "I wish I had a thigh gap." Screw the thigh gap! It's not a body requirement. If you have one great, if you don't who cares?

Every body was specially designed for each person. What your body looks like doesn't define who you are. What you do with it and your life is what matters. Who you are as a person is what matters. You can't do something with your life if you are constantly sitting upset, thinking about how great someone else's life is or how your life should be like theirs. That's not how it works!

P.S. You never know what the other person is going through. Things are never at all what they seem.

So today, I want all of you to think about what you love about yourself and it doesn't have to be one thing! I hope you have a list as long as Santa's! Haha! Thank your body for all it does for you, fuel it with what it needs to keep going, and most importantly, love everything about it.

I would love to hear what you love about yourself in the comments below and I want everyone who reads this today to tell a friend, family member, or complete stranger something they love (or like/notice if they're a stranger) about them. I promise, you'll make their day. :)

Winter Date Idea: Living Room Fort

Tuesday, January 16, 2018

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a not-so Monday Monday haha! I had my first official horseback riding lesson on Sunday and I had a wonderful time. :)

We also celebrated another JAGS WIN!!! Did anyone else see it? What a game at 45-42! I'm super excited for next week's game because we are playing my cousin's favorite team, the Patriots. Now, I haven't introduced my cousin in my blog yet, but let me tell you all something about him. He is the biggest Patriot's fan that has ever existed. No joke. We don't even watch football with him because of how into the game he gets. So, of course the second the game was over I picked up my phone and gave him a call and he was like "Yeah, I saw that game" and I responded with "ready to get your butt whooped?!" Definitely a little cousin rivalry going on and it's a ton of fun!

Now, I know I haven't shared a date idea in a while, so I wanted to catch up with something super fun. Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was to build a fort in the living room or honestly any room in the house! Haha! If you've heard of the phrase: "Everything but the kitchen sink," the same phrase kind of applies to fort building. You grab every pillow, sheet, blanket and furniture piece you have and throw it all together! There's no right or wrong to it.

In the first year that Chandler and I were together, we actually built a smaller fort in my apartment at the time's living room. I think we had pizza and I got some Green Apple Smirnoff drinks from Total Wine. Which by the way, go pretty well with pizza! Haha! This time around we went pretty old school with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, board games and some movies. As you'll see as you scroll down, Diesel had to join and experience his first living room fort. :)

Happy Friday!!!

How was everyone's week? Honestly, I felt like every day went by soooo slow. You ever have one of those weeks where you just don't have any motivation to work? This week was one of those weeks. All I wanted to do was work on my blog, snuggle with my dog and ride horses. Haha!

However, I was really proud of myself this week. Since the Tone It Up Love Your Body series launched this week, I made it a goal for myself to get in a better workout routine. I took the time to sign up for all of my Studio Tone It Up classes for the week and told myself that once I'm signed up, I'm committed. I prepared my workout outfits for each morning and set my alarm earlier so that I would be up in the morning, doing the daily moves before my Studio Tone It Up class. And.....I DID IT! I have started my daily moves at 5:30 am every day this week and have been in class at 6 am and I feel great! I love the fact that I'm getting in a great workout before work everyday. I highly recommend signing up for the series if you haven't already.

Now onto today's weekly round up post. I found so many great articles, images and videos this week that I am excited to share with all of you. I hope you love it!

Entertainment:

I wasn't able to watch the Golden Globes, but, I have heard so much buzz about Oprah's amazing speech. I just listened to it as I was writing this post and it is so empowering. I grew up with my mom LOVING Oprah's show, magazine, and basically anything about Oprah.  Click the link below to be inspired. :)

Every Friday I listen to the New Music Friday playlist on Spotify. It's one of those little things that I look forward to every week! Music is a huge factor into how my day goes. If I'm tired, I listen to chill music, if I'm happy I'm listening to a pop cardio playlist! Refinery 29 shared two posts about two separate playlists that I love. See them below.

How To: Cure Your Post-Holiday Blues!

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

Happy Wednesday!

How is everyone's week going? I'm so happy that it's already Wednesday because that means I'm a few days closer to this weekend. I haven't been able to stop thinking about my horseback riding lesson. It really was something that I've been wanting to do my entire life and it has completely consumed my daily thoughts. I think I look at my photos from that day at least five times a day! They told me I'd become addicted and I already was before I got there. :)

Today, I wanted to talk about how to cure your post-holiday blues. Many people get depressed after the holidays because everything is so go-go-go in a happy way for so long and then it all just stops. I totally get it too! The holidays are my favorite time of the year and it sucks when you have to take down the tree and all the decorations. But, just because it's over, doesn't mean there isn't anything to be excited about for the new year! Below are five ways on how you can cure your post-holiday blues.

  1. Adopt a new fur-iend!
I've said it many times, but we are still so happy that we adopted Diesel a year ago. He's such a good boy and makes our lives so much happier and interesting for sure! Adopting an animal: dog, cat, or your animal of choice is such a great thing to do. You get companionship, fun memories and an awesome cuddle buddy. The best part about adoption is that not only do they impact your life but you also impact theirs for the better. Head over to your local shelter to find your new fur-ever friend!

      2. Add some color to your wardrobe!

I know that during the winter, a lot of people wear darker colors and even some neutrals but who says you have to do that too! While I do love darker tones, my favorite colors are fun and happy. Grab some bright yellow, pink, red, green, etc. styles to your wardrobe to liven things up! Spring is just around the corner anyway!

      3. Volunteer!

Volunteering is such a rewarding experience. There are so many opportunities out there as well! You can volunteer at animal shelters, hospitals, soup kitchens, and more. There's nothing better than doing something good for someone else. All you have to do is search volunteer opportunities on Google and a list of local sites will appear in your search!

      4. Start a new workout routine

All of us have a few (or a little more than a few haha) holiday calories to burn right? While I'm a firm believer that holiday calories don't count, my body thinks otherwise. 😂 In addition to losing weight, toning up and other physical health benefits, working out also helps your mental health. Anytime you're feeling stressed or energized, channel all of that into a workout. Not only does this help rid those negative thoughts and all of that extra energy, it also helps your body in so many ways. I am a part of the Tone It Up community and I absolutely love it. We just started the Love Your Body Series this week and it's already amazing after three days. Click here to sign up today!

      5. Travel

Our world is so amazing! Did you know that? The best part, is that you don't have to travel to Bali or London to say that. Traveling is such a great way to make new memories and learn something new. I have so many positive memories from all of the places I've been to, including some that were just 20 minutes away. That's the best part about traveling is that even if you go to the next town over to try a new restaurant, gallery or cute boutique, you still went somewhere! Not to mention, we're starting to enter festival season again which leaves room for so many 2018 memories to be built! Google towns near me and see what's in your own backyard, or be spontaneous and book a flight to somewhere you've always wanted to go! I promise you'll be happy you did!

I hope you all loved these ideas and I hope your 2018 year is your happiest year yet!

Happy Monday everyone!

So....this weekend was great! For Christmas, Chandler bought me a month's worth of horseback riding lessons and I had my first lesson on Saturday. Growing up I have always loved horses. I remember going to Books A Million with my mom just to buy a book called "Buying Your First Horse." (I wasn't buying one at all haha) I would spend time on the computer looking up horses for sale, convinced that one could fit in our smallish backyard. I remember finding one online for like $1,000 and thinking "Wow! That's not that much at all!" I was so naive haha! So, long story short, it was the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! I'm already counting down the days until my next lesson, a.k.a. next Sunday, a.k.a. seven days away. :)

To make this weekend even more great, the JAGS WON!!! I can't believe we won our first playoff game. For anyone who has been a Jaguar fan for years knows that this is a HUGE deal because for a long (long) time, we have not been the strongest team. Until now! If we keep up the good work, we could inch our way closer to a shot at the Super Bowl. I mean how cool would that be!

As you all know, I adore Morning Lavender. They have the most gorgeous clothes and my favorite part about this company is their shipping time! I've never really mentioned it before, but this company kicks butt in getting product to their customers. Based in California, every order I have ever placed always arrives in about two days, maybe three at the max from the shipping confirmation email. Normally a package from California to Florida takes five to seven days. If you're ever worried about getting something in time, don't fret! They've got you covered. :)

I chose to style their Rosalie Flowy Silver Maxi Skirt with an old Lauren Conrad sweater. While this sweater isn't in stores anymore, any cropped shirt or regular length sweater or top pairs perfectly with this skirt. The skirt is long though so be ready to either wear heels or get it hemmed.

Promise it's worth it though! :) Morning Lavender has a great selection of midi and maxi skirts. See more here.
